The continued staggering daily assaults to we the people of these United States from Donald Trump, the bully in chief, can only be expected to get worse before the election. The fact (and not the alternative fact) that his illegal,immoral, un-American statements and behaviors have gone unpunished (oh, yeah, except for an impeachment) is beyond belief.
Apparently, we have no Republican Senators who have the guts or the intelligence or the respect for their country – a democratic republic – to call the would-be dictator out. He has lied from day one in office (my crowd is bigger than Obama’s, the rain stopped for me…)and remained a lying, petty amoral President ever since. Not to mention a dangerous one. Trump is a man who knows nothing about government, nothing about the American people, and nothing about history. He doesn’t know how to lead an organized response to the Covid-19 pandemic and leaves so many to die alone while his response is “it is what it is.” He has no clue as to what foreign policy means and why his spontaneous whims may not be the best way to go about it. I have no faith that he has actually read the Constitution.
Republicans in the House and Senate – especially Mitch McConnell – have given up on the democratic concept of compromise. They have worked these past years only to get what they want – judges, no restrictions on corporations, low taxes for the rich, no changes to the unconscionable inequality of wealth in our country, no help for poor people with, for example, affordable (or free) health care, and most assuredly Republicans have no desire to have fair elections. Oh, and apparently no desire to end this terrible pandemic.
Democrats, Independents and Republicans with a conscience, cannot afford to sit out this upcoming Presidential election. Donald Trump must lose and he must lose by a lot!
